POSM Compliance AI

Point-of-sale materials (POSM) influence up to 60% of in-store purchase decisions, and brands invest 12–20% of total revenue in them. Yet most brands and retailers have no reliable way to confirm those materials ever reached the shelf, were positioned correctly, or stayed there.

POSM Compliance AI is an image recognition capability built into GoSpotCheck by FORM that closes that gap. From a single store photo, it automatically detects and reports on point-of-sale materials — giving brands and retailers a shared, accurate picture of what’s actually happening in-store, without adding extra work for field teams.

POSM Compliance AI is available as an add-on feature.

What It Detects

Beyond simply confirming a display exists, POSM Compliance AI classifies each one in detail:

  • Type and size of the POSM
  • Brand and campaign theme
  • Pricing detail, including value, currency, promotion type, quantity required, and promotion dates
  • SKU-level product data captured in the same shot

That means one photo now does the work of two — teams get both POSM data and product data from a single capture.

How It Works

Capture

Field and store teams use the GoSpotCheck mobile app to photograph in-store execution as part of their normal daily tasks — no additional steps or separate workflow required.

Detect

Once submitted, the AI model scans the image and identifies each POSM as a distinct object, separating it from surrounding shelves, products, and store clutter.

Report

Each POSM is classified by type, brand, campaign, and pricing attributes. Data is available on-device for field teams in the moment, and in PhotoWorks — GoSpotCheck's real-time photo reporting library — for leaders who need visibility across the network.

Teams that want to dig deeper can access more advanced reporting through API, Looker, or Snowflake.

Built for Real Store Conditions

POSM is one of retail’s hardest recognition problems: materials get lost in cluttered photos, look near-identical across campaigns, and rotate too quickly for a model to keep up. POSM Compliance AI is designed to handle exactly that.

  • Day 1 recognition — the model identifies new POSM designs from the first store visit, with no training or ramp-up period needed.
  • Resilient to real-world conditions — it holds up against cluttered shelves, partial visibility, damage, and obstruction.
  • Multi-currency and multi-language — pricing detection covers multiple currencies, and the model reads POSM text across multiple languages, so global teams get consistent detection whether they operate in one market or dozens.

Why It Matters

A display can be delivered to a store and still fail to do its job — placed incorrectly, damaged, missing pricing information, or simply never assembled. Without a reliable way to check, these gaps stay invisible until someone happens to notice, and the return on that investment quietly disappears.

POSM Compliance AI gives both brands and retailers a scalable way to close that gap:

For brands:

  • Measured trade spend — verify execution as it happens, rather than working backwards from sales data weeks later.
  • Full visibility into launches and seasonal campaigns — spot and correct gaps while the campaign window is still open.
  • Proof over self-reported compliance — bring objective, store-level evidence to retailer conversations.

For retailers:

  • Scalable compliance checks — confirm display standards across every location without manual, store-by-store audits.
  • Stronger supplier conversations — show brands objective proof of execution quality.
  • Consistent merchandising standards — spot and correct execution gaps store by store, rather than relying on manager self-reporting.
